Position: Aircraft Rework Mechanic (X-Plant A320)

Job Description

Airbus Commercial Aircraft is currently looking for a Rework Mechanic (X-Plant A320) to join our team based in Mobile, AL. This position is located in Mobile, AL. You will be part of a team that manufactures and integrates metallic components or sub‑assemblies to build up main metallic assemblies. Use manual techniques and appropriate tools/machines for part production, including bending metallic parts, performing structural modifications and repairs.

Perform first‑level testing and first‑level quality inspection.

The team at the Airbus U.S. Manufacturing facilities helps assemble the finest aircraft in the world along two (soon to be three) production lines for the A220 and A320 Family aircraft. On the shop floor you’ll be surrounded by individuals who are passionate about aviation and skilled in areas such as electrical, structure and quality.

Working Environment

Nearby on ‘Airbus Way’ you will find the Airbus U.S. Manufacturing Facility for commercial aircraft. Opened at the Mobile Aeroplex at Brookley in 2015, the facility produces A320 Family aircraft and added a second product line for the A220 in 2019.

Responsibilities
  • Integrate components or sub‑assemblies to build equipment or main assemblies.
  • Use manual tools or machines to fit, repair and assemble parts.
  • Assemble or dismantle equipment.
  • Perform first‑level testing and quality inspection.
Requirements

Required:

  • High School Diploma or GED with completed vocational training in mechanics, systems, avionics or electrical.
  • 2+ years of experience in aircraft mechanics and electrical rework or equivalent manufacturing experience.
  • 2 years minimum experience in aircraft mechanics and electrical rework or equivalent experience.

Preferred: 5+ years of hands‑on experience in the aviation industry or a comparable manufacturing field.

Physical Requirements
  • Vision:
    Adequate to read material on computer screens, identify markings and read drawings and measurement tools.
  • Hearing:
    Sufficient for shop communication and hearing safety alerts.
  • Speaking:
    Able to engage in conversations and deliver information to groups.
  • Equipment Operation:
    Operate hydraulic lifts, arms and other tools.
  • Carrying:
    Occasionally carry up to 30 lbs (13 kg).
  • Lifting:
    Occasionally lift up to 60 lbs (27 kg).
  • Pushing/Pulling:
    Ability to move items on the shop floor.
  • Sitting:
    Sit for extended periods at benches or on aircraft.
  • Squatting/Kneeling:
    Occasionally squat or kneel in confined areas such as cargo holds.
  • Standing:
    Stand for extended periods.
  • Travel/Mobility:
    Work outside hangers, on movable lifts at a height of ~40 ft, and enter confined spaces.
  • Walking:
    Walk through office, production and flight‑line areas, including uneven surfaces.
