Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Clean and sanitize fish processing equipment, machinery, conveyors, tables, floors, walls, drains, and other production areas.
  • Follow established sanitation procedures, and schedules.
  • Disassemble boxes as required for proper cleaning and sanitation.
  • Apply approved cleaning chemicals and sanitizing solutions according to established instructions and safety requirements.
  • Remove fish waste, debris, and other materials from production areas.
  • Operate hoses, pressure washers, foamers, scrubbers, box cutters, and other sanitation equipment.
  • Inspect equipment and production areas after cleaning to ensure sanitation standards have been met.
  • Complete sanitation checklists, inspection forms, and required documentation accurately.
  • Report damaged equipment, safety hazards, leaks, or sanitation concerns to management.
  • Maintain proper chemical storage and labeling and follow all chemical-handling procedures.
  • Follow food safety, HACCP, GMP, OSHA, and company sanitation requirements.
  • Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including gloves, boots, protective clothing, eye protection, and other equipment as required.
  • Maintain a safe work area and immediately report accidents, injuries, or unsafe conditions.
  • Assist production personnel with maintaining cleanliness throughout the processing operation.
  • Perform additional cleaning and sanitation duties as assigned by management.

This position works primarily in a fish production and processing environment. Employees may be exposed to wet floors, cold temperatures, water, fish products and waste, cleaning chemicals, noise, machinery, and other normal conditions associated with seafood processing facilities.

The Sanitation Worker is expected to maintain the highest standards of personal hygiene, food safety, workplace safety, and sanitation. All employees must follow company policies, regulatory requirements, and established sanitation procedures to prevent contamination and maintain a safe food-production environment.

Requirements Qualifications
  • Previous sanitation, food processing, seafood processing, manufacturing, or industrial cleaning experience preferred.
  • Ability to work in a wet, cold, and fast-paced production environment.
  • Ability to safely handle cleaning chemicals and sanitation equipment.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to food safety and cleanliness.
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime when required.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to frequently bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and climb.
  • Ability to lift and carry materials and equipment as required.
  • Ability to work around water, moisture, strong odors, cleaning chemicals, and fish-processing waste.
  • Ability to wear required PPE for extended periods.
  • Ability to work in refrigerated or temperature-controlled production areas.
Summary

The Sanitation Worker is responsible for maintaining a clean, sanitary, and safe production environment not just in the production area but also corporate offices. This position performs cleaning and sanitation activities on processing equipment, production areas, floors, drains, tools, and other facility surfaces to ensure compliance with company, food safety, sanitation, and regulatory standards.
