Airbus Americas is looking for an Airbus Operating System (AOS) Expert to join our Operational Excellence team based in Mobile, AL.

You will be part of a team developing standardized lean principles and performance improvement initiatives. As part of the Operational Excellence Team, you will be involved in implementing AOS solutions aiming at addressing systemic operational performance issues and driving sustainable business growth.

You will be part of a team that drives continuous performance improvement across all organizational levels. The Operational Excellence team works directly with plant management, support functions, and senior leadership to establish lean standards, elevate industrial maturity, and cultivate a culture of autonomy and continuous improvement across manufacturing operations.

On 'Airbus Way' you will find the Airbus U.S. Manufacturing Facility for commercial aircraft. Opened at the Mobile Aeroplex at Brookley in 2015, the facility produces A320 Family aircraft and added a second product line for the A220 in 2019. The facility, which strengthens the U.S. aerospace industry, is part of Airbus' strategy to enhance its global competitiveness by meeting the growing needs of its customers in the United States and beyond.

Develop and coach the Senior Leadership Team (SVPs and VPs), Operations Management Team, and local AOS teams (+20 employees).

Act as the primary Senior Expert on AOS content for Airbus Americas and represent AOS Central (Europe).

Advise site leadership on performance improvement opportunities, governance management, and regional performance reviews.

Lead industrial maturity assessments across the regional scope and formulate strategic recommendations.

Design, facilitate, and lead training programs and Kaizen workshops in a train-the-trainer mode across North America.

Support AOS digitalization solutions and drive mid- to long-term strategic lean initiatives.

Degree in Engineering, Management, or a related field.

10–15 years of experience in operations management within a best-in-class lean manufacturing environment.

Deep expertise in lean management, problem-solving, and facilitating workshops (Kaizen, VSM, SMED, 5S, Hoshin Kanri).

Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor, and inspire managers, technicians, and operators.

Strong baseline knowledge of industrial engineering, quality tools, process optimization, and aeronautical manufacturing.

Professional certifications such as Six Sigma Black Belt, Kepner-Tregoe, or APICS are highly desirable.

Ability to navigate and spend extended time on active manufacturing shop floors and plant environments.

Capacity to conduct interactive training sessions, workshop facilitation, and on-site industrial assessments.

Flexibility to travel to various Airbus sites and locations across North America as needed.

All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, national origin, disability, veteran status, age, marital status, pregnancy, genetic information, or other legally protected status.

As a leader in our field, Airbus provides relocation assistance for qualified positions and a comprehensive compensation and benefits package.

As a matter of policy, Airbus does not sponsor visas for US positions unless specified. Only applicants with current work authorization will be considered.

Airbus does not offer tenured or guaranteed employment. Employment with Airbus is at will, meaning either the company or the employee can terminate the employment relationship at any time, with or without cause, with or without notice.

This job requires an awareness of any potential compliance risks and a commitment to act with integrity, as the foundation for the Company's success, reputation and sustainable growth.
