As a Correctional Pharmacy Inventory Manager - LPN
, you will assist the licensed pharmacists in providing medications and other healthcare products to inmates, ensuring work is performed in compliance with standards and regulations. This unique position allows you to make a difference to a diverse population with complex medical needs.
- Preparing and dispensing prescription medications to inmates, often requiring careful attention to detail and adherence to strict protocols.
- Managing medication inventory, including ordering, receiving, and storing medications, ensuring proper storage conditions and security.
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of medication dispensed, patient information, and inventory levels.
- Communicating with pharmacists, nurses, and other healthcare staff regarding medication orders, patient needs, and potential issues.
- Adhering to strict security protocols to prevent unauthorized access to medications and maintain a secure environment.
- Providing basic medication information and instructions to patients, ensuring they understand how to take their medications properly.
- Participating in quality assurance activities to ensure accurate medication dispensing and adherence to pharmacy policies and procedures.
- Current active LPN license in AL.
- Progressive administrative/management training in a pharmacy role with purchasing knowledge preferred.
- General knowledge of brand to generic pharmaceutical equivalents.
- Must possess an active BLS/CPR Certification (AHA preferred).
- Attention to detail, strong communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team, and a commitment to patient safety.
- Ability to interact effectively with patients from diverse backgrounds, including those with mental health or substance abuse issues.
- Must have the ability to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information and uphold integrity, professionalism and a commitment to a Code of Conduct and compliance with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements.
- Must pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening.
Must have the ability to stand for long periods, lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds), bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances, and perform physically demanding tasks like CPR, all while maintaining good balance and endurance throughout a shift.
