Job SummaryPerforms the primary functions of a registered nurse in assessing, diagnosing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the care of all assigned patients.
Responsibilities- Supports the care of the patient and assesses and addresses the needs of the patient/family.
- Works collaboratively with other interprofessional team members in resolving patient/family problems, concerns and issues.
- Collaborates with other departments as needed to establish the patient/family treatment plan.
- Individualizes, implements, evaluates or updates the plan of care and patient educational needs regarding vascular access.
- Possesses the ability to complete intravenous insertion and assessment to include peripheral and central line access.
- Utilizes equipment such as point of care ultrasound equipment and intravenous infusion pumps as appropriate.
- Demonstrates proper interpretation of department specific policies and related laboratory results to safely manage specific patient needs.
- Implements, monitors and records patient care and communicates patient condition as appropriate. Takes appropriate actions to unanticipated changes in patient condition.
- Utilizes the Electronic Health Record (EHR) to access treatment and therapy plans.
- Applies existing evidence-based practice and scientific knowledge in health care to nursing practice, ensuring that nursing care is delivered based on patient’s age-specific needs and clinical needs as described in the department’s scope of service.
- Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Graduate of accredited school of nursing or education equivalency for licensing.
- No experience required.
- Constant use of speech to share information through oral communication.
- Constant standing and walking.
- Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
- Frequent sitting, reaching and keyboard use/data entry.
- Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.
- Frequent use of smell to detect/recognize odors.
- Frequent use of hearing to receive oral communication, distinguish body sounds and/or hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.
- Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
- Occasional lifting/moving of patients.
- Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting, gripping and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
- Occasional driving.
- Rare crawling and running.
- Illinois: BLS HCP (American Heart Association), RN (Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation), Advanced Oncology Certified Nurse, and/or various anticoagulation or oncology nursing certifications.
- Missouri: BLS HCP (American Heart Association), RN (Missouri Division of Professional Registration) or RN issued by Compact State, Advanced Oncology Certified Nurse, and/or various anticoagulation or oncology nursing certifications.
- Oklahoma: BLS HCP (American Heart Association), RN (Oklahoma Board of Nursing) or RN issued by Compact State, Advanced Oncology Certified Nurse, and/or various anticoagulation or oncology nursing certifications.
- Wisconsin: BLS HCP (American Heart Association), RN (Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services) or RN issued by Compact State, Advanced Oncology Certified Nurse, and/or various anticoagulation or oncology nursing certifications.
