Job Summary

Plan, coordinate, and implement adult patient care in the Cardiac Cath Lab. Ensure quality care is delivered efficiently and safely, in line with unit standards, and demonstrate competency appropriate to the clinical area.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Perform as circulator, scrub, or monitor on the Cath Lab procedure team.
  • Assist in patient preparation, ensuring correct pre‑p prep and timely provision of history and physical information.
  • Use critical judgment to assess patients, administer medications—including to critically ill patients—and report abnormal findings promptly to the physician.
  • Perform hemostasis safely, with or without vascular devices.
  • Enter patient orders and charges routinely; check charges for accuracy.
  • Provide care to critically ill patients, functioning independently in stressful conditions.
  • Educate patients and families, document education, and keep them informed of tests and treatments. Provide clear instructions on perioperative expectations.
  • Escort families to cardiology or Cath Lab areas as needed.
  • Perform point‑of‑care testing per policies and procedures.
  • Maintain constant alertness and act safely.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing school or equivalent education for licensing.
  • No prior experience required.
Physical Requirements
  • Constant verbal communication.
  • Constant standing and walking.
  • Frequent lifting, carrying, and pushing/pulling of objects weighing 0–25 lbs.
  • Frequent sitting, reaching, and keyboard use/data entry.
  • Use of vision and depth perception for near and far distances.
  • Use of smell and hearing for alarms, machinery, and body sounds.
  • Occasional lifting, carrying, and pushing/pulling of objects weighing 25–50 lbs.
  • Occasional patient moving.
  • Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting, gripping, and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
  • Occasional driving.
  • Rare crawling and running.
