Position Overview
North Alabama Medical Center (NAMC) in Florence, AL is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse for our Emergency Services department. As an RN in our busy Emergency Department, you will provide high-quality, patient-centered care to a diverse population presenting with a wide range of urgent and emergent conditions. Working in a comprehensive healthcare facility that offers advanced emergency care, surgical services, and specialized treatments, you will be part of a team committed to delivering exceptional, compassionate care to the community.
ResponsibilitiesIn this role, you will perform rapid assessments and triage for patients upon arrival to the Emergency Department, quickly identifying priority needs and initiating appropriate interventions. You will be responsible for delivering evidence-based nursing care, including medication administration, IV therapy, wound care, cardiac and respiratory monitoring, and support during emergency procedures and resuscitations. Utilizing state-of-the-art technology and equipment, you will continuously monitor patient status, respond promptly to changes in condition, and accurately document assessments, interventions, and outcomes in the electronic health record.
Collaboration& Communication
The Emergency Services RN collaborates closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, and an interdisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans. You will be expected to exercise strong critical thinking skills and clinical judgment in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment, escalating care and advocating for patients when necessary. Communication is key in this role: you will provide clear, compassionate explanations to patients and families about diagnoses, treatment options, and discharge instructions, often in stressful or emotionally charged situations.

Shift& Work Hours
This is an on-site, hands-on clinical position that requires flexibility, resilience, and a strong commitment to patient-centered care. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed to support 24/7 emergency operations.
Desired ExperiencePrior experience in emergency, critical care, or other acute care settings is preferred, but motivated nurses with strong clinical foundations and a passion for emergency care are encouraged to apply.
