Location:
WI-SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital – Madison. Worker Type:
Regular. Job Highlights: 5W ICU full-time 0.9 FTE (36 hr/week) rotating shifts 7p–7a and 7a–7p; every 3rd weekend rotation. Patient Population:
Medical adult critical care patients. Many patients are intubated. Nurses utilize central lines and arterial lines frequently. Frequent use of sedation and pressors.
- Provides direct nursing care in settings where patients require complex assessments and interventions, in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols.
- Obtains comprehensive data from patients, families, and other healthcare providers to develop a holistic view of patient needs.
- Analyzes and synthesizes assessment data to identify diagnoses or conditions relevant to care.
- Collaborates with patients, families and the interprofessional team to identify optimal outcomes and develop care plans.
- Implements the care plan, promotes a safe environment, and coordinates care with patient, family and interprofessional team.
- Evaluates processes and progress toward goals; contributes to quality and effectiveness of nursing practice; maintains current knowledge and competence.
- Communicates effectively and collaborates with patient, family and interprofessional team; applies evidence-based practice to critical care nursing; ensures care is tailored to age-specific and clinical needs.
- Maintains alertness and safety in all practice activities and performs other duties as assigned.
Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or education equivalency for licensing.
Experience: No experience required.
Physical Requirements: Constant speaking, standing, walking; frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling (0–25 lbs); frequent sitting, reaching, keyboard use; frequent vision, depth perception, smell, and hearing; occasional lifting (25–50 lbs), patient moving, bending, kneeling, twisting; occasional driving; rare crawling/running.
Licenses/Certifications (various locations): State-specific Basic Life Support (BLS HCP) and Registered Nurse (RN) licensure;
Advanced Life Support (ALS) or equivalent (ENPC, NRP, PALS, TNCC, etc.) per state requirements. Includes corresponding certifications as applicable per state of work (Illinois, Missouri, Oklahoma, Wisconsin).
