Role Description The RN Unit Manager is a full-time, on-site role located in Mobile, AL, responsible for overseeing the daily clinical operations of an assigned nursing unit. This role directs and supervises nursing staff, coordinates patient care plans, and ensures that care is delivered according to clinical standards, facility policies, and regulatory requirements. The RN Unit Manager conducts assessments, monitors patient status, and collaborates with physicians, interdisciplinary team members, and families to support optimal outcomes.

Daily responsibilities include staffing and scheduling, mentoring and coaching nurses and nursing assistants, auditing documentation, and promoting infection control and safety practices. The RN Unit Manager also participates in quality improvement initiatives, supports orientation and ongoing training, and helps maintain a positive, respectful work environment.

Qualifications

  • Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Alabama.
  • Previous experience in acute care, long-term care, or a similar clinical setting; prior leadership or charge nurse experience strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise and support nursing staff, manage unit workflow, and prioritize patient care needs.
  • Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and decision-making skills, with attention to safety and infection control.
  • Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) and clinical documentation, with solid organizational and time management skills.
  • Effective, gender-neutral communication skills for interacting with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members.
  • Knowledge of relevant state and federal regulations, including resident rights, quality standards, and compliance requirements.
  • Ability to work on-site in Mobile, AL, including flexibility to cover weekends, holidays, and varying shifts as needed.
  • CPR/BLS certification required; additional clinical certifications (e.g., ACLS, geriatric care) are a plus.
