Job Description

A Registered Nurse for Home Infusion inserts, monitors, and removes an IV used to give medications, blood products, and nutrition to a patient. During the IV therapy, the nurse monitors the patient for adverse reactions and ensures that the tubing, bandages, and needle stay in place. When a patient needs blood levels checked, an IV nurse performs venous phlebotomy. The nurse obtains sets of vital signs, completes the physical assessment and review of systems, documents all patient‑related activities, and records medications administered.

Provides and coordinates all aspects of staffing services to the patient with assistance from the Company Directors, Nursing Coordinator, and Director of Nursing. Communicates with patients to determine problems and/or solutions regarding their treatment, and conveys collected documentation to all necessary internal and third‑party external staff regarding scheduling and other pertinent patient information.

Performs a variety of duties both clinical and nursing notes documentation, planning, organizing, scheduling, and coordinating the delivery of patient care by all staff personnel, including complete documentation of nursing care and submission of nursing notes.

Qualification Requirements
  • Nursing degree from an accredited college or university
  • IV certification and experience in central line care and management
  • Current state RN license in the location specified in the posting
  • Minimum of two (2) years of RN experience
  • Valid state driver’s license
  • CPR certification
  • Experience in home care, critical care, emergency nursing, AIC or hospital discharge planning
  • Experience in staffing and ability to multi‑task, communicate, and interact effectively
  • Basic Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Willingness to travel to patients’ homes and other healthcare facilities
  • Customer service experience with internal and external customers, meeting quality standards and evaluating customer satisfaction
Qualifications Preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • RN license in other states
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Utilizes the nursing process to schedule visits according to prescriptions and protocols
  • Coordinates SOC and ongoing visits and confirms scheduled visits with patients and Nursing Agency/RN
  • Ensures schedule is sent via email to team members
  • Follows up on and enters therapy admin reports and emails them to the involved team
  • Reviews nurses’ notes for content, accuracy, and completeness, ensuring drug dosing and timing are reported
  • Communicates continuously with families, supervisors, and agencies about patient issues or special needs
  • Reports problems and situations to the referring MD, office administrator, and Biomatrix nursing
  • Performs input, report, search, and scheduling functions on the computer
  • Communicates patient/employee information to answering services as needed
  • Understands company compliance paperwork and educational materials
  • Performs all duties in accordance with federal and state laws and ethical standards
  • Coordinates staffing in a timely manner while adhering to confidentiality and compliance requirements
  • Inserts IV cannulas, administers prescribed solutions, monitors sites, and evaluates therapy responses
  • Teaches patients and caregivers to monitor and perform home infusion therapy
  • Prepares clinical records, care plans, and progress notes for each visit
  • Coordinates patient visit schedule and phone calls
  • Works at the patient’s place of residence
  • Drives as required within the state
  • Prior home infusion therapy experience preferred; PICC/Port/Midline experience and certification also preferred
