Job Description Summary
The University of South Alabama's Grounds department is seeking to hire a Groundskeeper I. Interested candidates should apply to be considered.
Essential Functions
These are the job duties required of the position.
Essential Functions
* Trims and fertilizes trees and shrubbery.
* Mows and edges lawns.
* Picks up trash and debris from grounds.
* Waters lawns and shrubs as needed or directed.
* Weeds and tends flower beds, gardens and lawns.
* Collects, loads, and hauls off trash.
* Digs holes and plants flowers, shrubs, and trees.
* Installs weed fabric and mulch.
* Stakes and guys trees.
* Performs solid waste collection campus-wide to include pick up of bagged, boxed or loose materials and transport by truck to dumpsters located throughout campus for unloading.
* Assists in the installation and repair of irrigation systems.
* Operates power washer to clean sidewalks and other paved surfaces.
* Safely applies chemicals to lawns, trees, shrubs, flowers and paved surfaces as required.
* May be responsible for performing groundskeeping and custodial duties in maintaining a small group of buildings and grounds.
* May be required to operate a tractor or other groundskeeping equipment, as well as a motor vehicle to travel to and from work sites or transport materials.
* Regular and prompt attendance.
* Ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required.
* Related duties as required.
