Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma, two years groundskeeping experience, possession of a valid drivers license and maintenance of a driving record sufficient to maintain insurance coverage under the University of South Alabama, and possession of or the ability to acquire an ornamental and turf pest control license (Custodial) within six months of employment.



Job Description

Summary:

The University of South Alabama’s Grounds department is seeking to hire a Groundskeeper III. Interested candidates should apply to be considered.

Essential Functions
  • Mows turf areas.
  • Remove grass clippings, leaves, pine needles, trash and debris from lawns and landscape areas.
  • Prunes shrubbery and trees.
  • Plants and mulches shrubs, trees and flowers.
  • Installs stakes and guys on trees, as required.
  • Applies irrigation water on trees, shrubs and flowers.
  • Applies chemical and fertilizers to lawns, trees, shrubs and flowers.
  • Operates a variety of grounds maintenance tools and equipment.
  • Loads and unloads bags of fertilizer, pear, moss and other materials up to 60 lbs.
  • Sweeps streets, driveways and parking lots.
  • Operates a variety of pick up trucks and other trucks, including water tanker.
  • Maintains and calibrates equipment as required.
  • Installs and repairs irrigation systems.
  • Performs safe operation of farm and garden tractors with associated attached equipment.
  • Regular and prompt attendance.
  • Ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required.
  • Related duties as required.
