Research Assistant I (005326)
The University of South Alabama’s Stokes School of Marine & Environmental Sciences is seeking to hire a Research Assistant I. Interested candidates should apply to be considered.
Minimum Qualifications- Master’s degree in a physical or natural science from an accredited institution as approved and accepted by the University of South Alabama.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license.
- Maintenance of a driving record sufficient to maintain insurance coverage under the University of South Alabama.
- Conduct daily field and lab activities for research projects including planning, coordination, and execution.
- Build geospatial applications using GIS software for lab projects.
- Supervise undergraduate and graduate students working on the project.
- Oversee and perform field and lab work including field surveys, lab processing, water quality analyses, maintain quality assurance, and train students in safe practices.
- Manage laboratory budgets.
- Maintain relationships with the research project’s partners and stakeholders.
- Coordinate and plan project meetings.
- Participate in the hiring of new interns.
- Perform project reporting.
- Utilize University vehicles.
- Maintain regular and prompt attendance.
- Work schedule as defined and additional hours as required.
- Perform related duties as required.
