This position is responsible for:
- Oversees, accepts, and processes residents staying in shelter overnight.
- Monitors the behavior and activity of residents participating in recovery/housing program on an assigned shift ensuring safety, security, and compliance to house rules.
- Guards the security and the safety of Salvation Army facilities and buildings to ensure compliance with housing rules and policies and to protect the safety of staff and clients.
- Ensures compliance with house rules. Completes and files incident logs. Administers drug and alcohol testing at program staff request
- Provides security for the building and grounds being aware of activities happening in building dormitories. Maintains awareness of activities occurring outside of the building.
- Inspects baggage for contraband or inappropriate items which jeopardize the security and safety of clients and staff; may operate a metal detector
- Maintains confidentiality of all clients including their location, conversation, and records. Responds to emergencies by dialing 911
- Work requires performance of duties in social services environments where exposure to communicable & infectious diseases are possible.
- Ability to perform combinations of sitting, standing, climbing stairs, and walking on a frequent change basis. Distance usually within same building

High School Diploma or GED AND
- One year experience working with public performing security or social service work preferred OR
- Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
