Security Officer

The University of Mobile is seeking professional, service-oriented Security Officers committed to protecting people, property, and the mission of our Christ-centered campus. Security Officers play a vital role in maintaining a safe, welcoming environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors through proactive patrol, emergency response, and exceptional customer service.

The Security Officer provides a visible security presence across campus, enforces university policies, responds to emergencies, completes detailed reports, and assists the campus community with professionalism, integrity, and sound judgment. This position requires excellent communication skills, situational awareness, and a commitment to serving others in a Christian higher education environment.

• Patrol campus buildings, residence halls, parking lots, and university property.
• Respond to emergencies, alarms, medical incidents, fire calls, and requests for service.
• Provide excellent customer service to students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
• Enforce university policies and applicable laws.
• Monitor campus access and assist with traffic and parking enforcement.
• Write accurate incident reports and maintain daily activity logs.
• Operate radios, computers, and department equipment.
• Safely qualify with self-provided semi-automatic firearm.
• Participate and meet standard qualifications in ongoing training including active shooter response, de-escalation, emergency preparedness, report writing, and customer service.
• Promote a safe, welcoming, Christ-centered campus environment.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

• Firearms qualification to Alabama Security Regulatory Board {ASRB) standard {Ala. Admin. Code r. 832-X-1-.08), with self-provided semi-automatic pistol, magazines, and duty holster.
• Ability to work an 8 or 12 hour shift – some holidays and weekends will be required.
• Respond quickly during emergencies

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver’s license
• Clean criminal background
• Pass background check and drug screening
• Valid pistol permit – requires criminal history background check
• Strong report writing and computer skills
• Previous security, military, or law enforcement experience preferred but not required

• Starting pay of $15.00/hour
