Overview

Position Description Immediately hiring a Permanent Full Time Experienced Master Level Diesel Technician to support our Truck Fleet at Ryder in Mobile, Alabama.

• SBTIII trained within 180 days (SBT
  220).
• Complete all OEM online diagnostic scan tool software courses as required by location fleet mix (completed within 365 days).
• Complete instructor-led OEM courses as required to support location fleet mix.
• Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties including standard and preventive maintenance.
• Diagnose and repair complex mechanical and electronic problems with minimal support, using diagnostic computers/software when applicable.
• Perform remote triage with RCRC and customers to determine best solution for roadside breakdowns.
• Perform facility maintenance duties and interact with customers/drivers to determine nature of the complaint.
• Instruct and advise other technicians regarding maintenance repair procedures and diagnostics.
• Coach/mentor other level technicians and advise shop management on shop repairs.
• Utilize Shop Management System and electronic documentation; comply with safety, DOT, MOT and applicable guidelines.
• Provide other support duties as required to support operations (e.g., Service Island support).

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Vocational or technical certification or post-secondary degree preferred.
• Basic tools required.
• Demonstrated aptitude and experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines including:
• Routine preventive maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work).
• Diagnostics and repairs including AC, electrical systems.
• Advanced skilled repairs including major engine repairs, diesel aftertreatment or automotive fuel injection repairs.
• Four (4) years or more relevant work experience preferred.
• Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) CLASS A preferred.
• All other certifications required by location.

• Ability to perform all T3 tasks and demonstrate advanced analytical/repair skills in vehicle maintenance.
• Effective interpersonal communication skills.
• Basic computer skills (PC, Windows, mouse).
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Availability to work shift work/weekends and on-call duties as required.
• Prefer ASE Certification in PM, Brakes, A/C, electrical, electronics or ASE Master Mechanic.
• Operate shop computers and diagnostic test equipment proficiently; minimum tool requirements.
• Road test vehicles as necessary; demonstrate ability to coach/mentor others.
• This position may require driving Ryder vehicles; obtain CDL within 6 months after hire, pass Ryder drug test, DOT physical, Ryder road test, and background/motor vehicle checks as applicable.
