Job SummaryChemical facility located in Theodore, AL is currently looking for a Civil Laborer/Ground keeper. The role involves grounds maintenance and construction of infrastructure at the facility.
Key Responsibilities- Perform outside grounds work including weeding.
- Build wooden structures such as stairs, concrete forms, scaffolds, tunnel and sewer supports, and temporary frame shelters according to blueprints or oral instructions, and lay out and install partitions and cabinet work.
- Examine blueprints, sketches or building plans to determine required materials and dimensions of structures or fixtures to be fabricated.
- Select, load, and haul job material to work site.
- Prepare layout of form or fixture to be fabricated using lines or grades.
- Measure boards, timbers, or plywood using square, measuring tape and ruler and mark cutting lines on materials using pencil and scriber.
- Shape materials to required sizes using saws, chisels, and planes.
- Verify accuracy of structure with transit, plumb bob, square and level.
- Use carpentry hand tools such as hammers, levels, squares, screw drivers, adjustable wrenches, hand and power saws, drill motors and pry bars.
- Nail cleats (braces) across boards to construct concrete‑supporting forms.
- Brace forms in place with timbers, tie rods, and anchor bolts for use in building concrete piers, footings, and walls.
- Erect frame work for structures and lay sub‑flooring.
- Cut and assemble timbers to build trestles and cofferdams.
- Erect scaffolding for buildings and other structures and install ladders, handrails, walkways, platforms, and gangways.
Preferred minimum of 1+ years documented field experience in the chosen craft discipline. Must be able to read and interpret instructions and documentation.
High school diploma or equivalent with previous years of experience in the field or a related area.
Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.
Work under immediate supervision and follow established guidelines.
Ability to work in various weather conditions.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Ability to perform strength activities: standing (70%), walking (20%), sitting (10%); lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling as specified.
Physical RequirementsIncludes the ability to lift, carry, push, pull, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, handle, and fingering with varying frequency (frequently, occasionally, constantly) as per standard job conditions.

Work ScheduleRegular hours Mon – Thurs 6:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. with some mandatory overtime on Fridays and/or weekends.
