Locate Technician

Job Description

Locate Technicians are responsible for accurately locating underground facilities, including telephone, electric power, cable television, gas, fiber‑optic, water, and sewer lines. This role ensures compliance with client and state requirements and provides essential data for utility projects.

• Observe, locate, mark, and document underground and exposed utility locations using multiple locating methods.
• Interpret job order tickets, blueprints, and maps to efficiently route and execute locates.
• Perform scheduled and emergency/on‑call locates during regular hours, overtime, and holidays as required.
• Work in various terrains and weather conditions, including construction zones, residential, commercial, industrial, and rural areas.
• Communicate effectively with customers, contractors, and management to maintain a damage‑free environment.
• Operate required machinery and tools safely and accurately.
• Work independently or as part of a supervised team.

• Company vehicle, laptop, and smartphone.
• All personal protective equipment provided.

• Background check completed with no violations in the last 5 years.
• DOT drug test passed.
• High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
• State‑issued driver’s license.
• Ability to problem‑solve and read/interpret multiple types of prints.
• Vacuum truck experience (A+ preferred).
• Ability to lift over 50 lbs and stand/walk for multiple hours.
