Inspects, certifies, and performs minor maintenance of overhead cranes and hoists to ensure safe operations.
Responsibilities- Completes inspection reports to document findings.
- Inspects structural components, operating mechanisms, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical systems, hydraulic cylinders, wire rope, operational aids, and safety devices.
- Performs minor repair of structural, mechanical, electrical, and safety items to meet inspection requirements.
- Performs load tests as required and documents findings.
- Ensures safe operating practices and procedures are used.
- Knows and uses the correct hand and voice signals while operating cranes and hoists.
- Understands basic rigging procedures and promotes safety.
- Possesses the physical ability to safely operate overhead cranes and hoists.
- Immediately reports all major concerns or findings to the Supervisor or Facility Manager in writing.
- Seeks and follows advice from the company structural engineer whenever concerns outside training arise.
- Reports all injuries or potential accidents to the company Safety Manager.
- Formally requests professional guidance from the structural engineer when structural concerns are located and appear to be above the crane inspector certification knowledge and training.
- Accountable for:
- Performing inspection and load testing of cranes and hoists and completing a comprehensive report for each.
- Locking out tag‑out devices that fail the annual inspection.
- Working harmoniously with fellow workers and government employees.
- Accurately tracking jobs, hours worked, and timecard coding for all tasks performed.
- Vehicle inspection, maintenance log, fuel tracking, and immediately reporting all damage or accidents.
- Accomplishing assigned duties in accordance with this job description and as assigned by supervisors, and having the authority to perform duties described herein in accordance with Corporate Procedures, Standard Operating Procedures, and applicable Army regulatory requirements.
- Possess three (3) years of experience performing the duties as an inspector.
- Must have and maintain a valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
- Must have and maintain Crane Inspector and Operator/Rigging Certification through NCCO or equivalent agency.
- Must obtain and maintain a favorable adjudication of a National Agency Check within inquiries (NACI).
- Ability to obtain and maintain all necessary licenses//certifications.
- Successfully pass any background checks and/or drug testing required on the contract.
- Responsible for completing daily work order log documenting inspections, maintenance, and repair information, including work performed, materials used, and hours worked on each assigned work order.
- Able to safely climb extension and step ladders.
- Must be capable of lifting a minimum of 50 pounds.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
