Responsibilities
  • Work under general supervision to perform residential and/or light commercial service and maintenance calls.
  • Analyze, diagnose, and resolve customer problems in a courteous, professional, timely, and accurate manner.
  • Diagnose and perform services on heating, air conditioning, ventilation, and refrigeration equipment as well as accessories accurately and timely.
  • Inspect equipment and perform diagnostics to identify potential problems and prevent premature breakdowns or callbacks.
  • Complete routine maintenance and equipment cleaning as needed or required.
  • Deliver and remove parts and equipment needed to complete service work.
  • Use a hand‑held device to record all required information on customer calls, complete all forms and paperwork neatly, timely, and accurately, and collect payment from customers.
  • Communicate with dispatch to ensure accurate status reports of activities and availability while on duty.
  • Provide excellent customer service and sustain high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Promote products and services to the customer, and report replacement product sales leads to the Sales and Service Coordinator.
  • Ensure company property, vehicles, and tools are used, maintained, and properly accounted for.
  • Represent the company professionally, honestly, and ethically in all business matters and activities.
  • Follow standard procedures and processes, ensuring the company vehicle is properly stocked, returning defective warranty parts to the branch, and replenishing vehicle stock as needed.
  • Perform similar or other duties as needed or assigned.
  • Maintain regular, reliable attendance.

  • Report any unsafe acts, conditions, and hazards to the direct supervisor or manager immediately.
  • Report any contravention of legislation or company policy, procedure, or program to the direct supervisor or manager immediately.
  • Correct substandard acts or conditions within the area of control.
  • Use and maintain appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as prescribed by company programs or procedures.
  • Never remove or render ineffective safety guards, devices, or clothing prescribed to be in place or worn.
  • Comply with the general rules as prescribed by company programs or procedures.
  • Operate devices or equipment as prescribed by company programs or procedures.
  • Participate in any safety initiatives, teams, or committees.
  • Report all injuries or incidents as prescribed by company programs or procedures immediately.
  • Provide input on developing safety initiatives and plans to eliminate exposure that could cause accidents.
  • Do not perform acts that may endanger the safety or well‑being of others.
  • Do not engage in pranks, contests, or rough boisterous behavior.
  • Work in compliance with applicable legislative requirements.
Desired Skills And Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED with additional training and at least 2 years of experience in HVAC, plus technical training certification.
  • Must possess all valid licensing or certification required by federal, state, provincial, or local governmental laws or regulations for the geographic work area.
  • EPA and safety certifications required.
  • Skilled at servicing heating, air conditioning, and ventilation equipment and related accessories.
  • Proficient mechanical aptitude and the ability to operate all necessary tools and equipment.
  • Proficient at reading wiring diagrams and troubleshooting problems with electrical, refrigerant, and duct systems on HVAC equipment.
  • Proficient at properly starting up and balancing airflow, and properly aligning belts and pulleys on all systems with little to no supervision.
  • Proficient at installing a basic duct fitting.
  • Proficient at troubleshooting and repairing electronic air cleaners, refrigeration systems, hot water systems, steam boiler systems, humidifiers, and related equipment with little to no supervision.
  • Effective communication skills to resolve customer issues, complaints, or concerns.
  • Effective and efficient time‑management and organizational skills.
