Job Description

This role focuses on installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting electrical power distribution, lighting, and control systems within a facility. The Electrician ensures that all electrical work meets safety standards and code requirements while supporting production controls, automation components, and building infrastructure. The position requires hands‑on work with a wide range of electrical equipment, from power supply wiring and conduit to motor controls and low‑voltage systems.

Responsibilities
  • Install and connect power supply wiring and conduit for lighting, general devices, newly installed machines, and building equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and support production controls and automation components to minimize downtime and ensure reliable operation.
  • Diagnose malfunctioning electrical apparatus such as transformers, motors, motor starters, MCC panels, MCC circuits, variable frequency drives, and lighting fixtures.
  • Repair and replace damaged parts, broken wires, cables, and connections to restore safe and effective operation of electrical systems.
  • Maintain electrical distribution equipment including 3 phase 4 wire 277/480 VAC, 3 phase 4 wire 120/208 VAC, and single phase 3 wire 120/240 VAC systems.
  • Replace faulty electronic components such as printed circuit boards, relays, contractors, and control buttons.
  • Perform maintenance on building lighting, task lighting, parking lot lighting, lighting contractors, emergency lights and exit lights, 120‑volt outlets, and photoelectric eyes for exterior building lighting.
  • Maintain and service lighting contractors that are controlled by the energy management system.
  • Plan the layout of wiring and install wiring, conduit, and electrical apparatus in buildings as part of preventative maintenance tasks for electrical utilities and equipment rated at 480 volts or less.
  • Complete accurate and timely paperwork related to all essential duties and responsibilities.
  • Maintain, organize, and clean the shop area and/or service van, including inventory control, tool maintenance, and calibration of testing equipment.
  • Follow applicable electrical codes, safety regulations, and standard practices while performing all work.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support facility operations and maintenance.
Essential Skills
  • Strong practical experience installing and connecting power supply wiring and conduit for lighting, general devices, machinery, and building equipment.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting and supporting production controls and automation components.
  • Ability to diagnose and repair malfunctioning electrical apparatus including transformers, motors, motor starters, MCC panels, MCC circuits, variable frequency drives, and lighting fixtures.
  • Hands‑on knowledge of maintaining electrical distribution systems for 3 phase 4 wire 277/480 VAC, 3 phase 4 wire 120/208 VAC, and single phase 3 wire 120/240 VAC.
  • Skill in replacing faulty electronic components such as printed circuit boards, relays, contractors, and control buttons.
  • Experience maintaining building lighting systems, task lighting, parking lot lighting, emergency and exit lights, 120‑volt outlets, photoelectric eyes, and lighting contractors.

  • Capability to complete accurate and timely documentation related to work performed.
  • Organizational skills to maintain a clean and efficient shop area and/or service van, including inventory and tool management.
  • Basic skills and knowledge of motor controls and logic control systems.
  • Familiarity with low‑voltage systems, fire alarm systems, and voice and data systems.
  • Commitment to using guidelines from the National Electrical Code, local codes, safety regulations, and standard practices for quality control.
