Construction General Laborer
This role supports the inspection, repair, and restoration of heavy-duty steel and wood structures, including utility poles, lighting grids, and telecommunication towers. You will work on-site in the field, traveling to various project locations, performing structural repairs, and ensuring high-quality workmanship and safety standards.
Responsibilities- Travel to project sites for extended periods, typically up to 5–6 weeks at a time, followed by a week off.
- Repair and restore steel and wood structures such as utility poles, lighting grids, and telecommunication towers.
- Perform concrete work, including building, repairing, and removing concrete forms.
- Use table saws, drills, and a variety of power tools and hand tools safely and effectively.
- Conduct structural inspections to assess condition, identify defects, and determine required repairs.
- Perform field service and repair activities on existing structures in diverse outdoor environments.
- Carry out quality assurance checks to ensure all work meets company and industry standards.
- Complete basic data entry and documentation related to inspections, repairs, and project progress.
- Work at heights comfortably and safely while following all safety procedures and guidelines.
- Collaborate with team members on-site and support a positive, safety-focused work culture.
- Concrete and construction experience, particularly with structural and utility-related projects.
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively, including trips of 5–6 weeks in the field.
- Comfort working at heights and in elevated positions on steel and wood structures.
- Field service repair experience, especially in construction or utility environments.
- Experience with structural inspection tasks, including identifying issues and documenting findings.
- Proficiency using power tools such as table saws and drills, as well as a variety of hand tools.
- Basic data entry skills for recording inspection results, repair details, and project information.
- Experience in the concrete or utility field, ideally with 5+ years of hands-on work and travel exposure.
- Strong safety awareness and adherence to safety protocols in field and construction environments.
- Demonstrated leadership characteristics and the ability to take initiative on-site.
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Mobile, AL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $27.00/hr.
