Summary

The Field Service Technician II is an experienced field technician responsible for performing industrial field services including mechanical bolting, heat treating, and field machining at customer locations. This position requires demonstrated hands‑on experience in heat treating and field machining and the ability to independently perform routine field assignments with limited supervision. The Field Service Technician II sets up, operates, troubleshoots, and maintains field service equipment while ensuring work is completed safely, accurately, and in accordance with company procedures, customer requirements, and applicable specifications.

This position supports maintenance, turnaround, repair, and project activities within refining, chemical, petrochemical, midstream, power generation, and other industrial facilities.

Qualification Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant industrial field service, mechanical maintenance, construction, turnaround, or similar experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated hands‑on experience performing industrial heat treating and field machining.
  • Experience with mechanical bolting and torque/tensioning applications preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to set up and operate field service tools and equipment with limited supervision.
  • Experience working in refining, chemical, petrochemical, midstream, power generation, or similar industrial environments preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
  • Current TWIC card or ability to obtain.
  • Ability to pass required medical examination, drug and alcohol screening, respirator qualification/fit testing, background screening, and customer‑specific requirements.
  • Ability to travel extensively based on project and customer requirements.

Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities

  • Working knowledge of industrial heat‑treating methods, equipment, controls, and applications.
  • Working knowledge of field machining equipment, setup, operation, and applications.
  • Knowledge of mechanical bolting, torque, and tensioning equipment and practices.
  • Ability to set up, operate, inspect, and maintain field service equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret basic drawings, specifications, procedures, equipment manuals, and job instructions.
  • Ability to take and verify measurements required for field machining applications.
  • Ability to monitor heat‑treating equipment and process parameters and identify abnormal operating conditions.
