Public Health Administrative Support Specialist

Job Overview

Qualifications

  • Attainment of a bachelor’s degree in public administration, business administration, occupational health science, industrial hygiene, accounting, or a related field.
  • Minimum of one year of responsible administrative experience, preferably in local government; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid driver’s license from the state of residence; a valid license must be presented at the point of hire.
  • Compliance with the established medical and physical standards for the class of work; the medical examination must be conducted by a physician designated by the Personnel Board and the applicant is responsible for the cost.
  • Ability to request accommodation for a disability by contacting the Mobile Civil Service at 251‑470‑7727.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research on federal and state legislation, analyze the information, and compile reports.
  • Meet with the public to discuss problems and complaints, handling interactions tactfully, courteously, and effectively.
  • Maintain quality assurance and departmental measures by assisting in the development and enforcement of policies and procedures.
  • Oversee the departmental budget.
