Public Health Administrative Support Specialist
Job Overview
Specialized administrative support work for the Mobile County Health Department. Hiring starting salary is $48,092. Applications are submitted online through the Mobile Civil Service Job Opportunities page. The posting will close once 275 applications have been received.
Qualifications
- Attainment of a bachelor’s degree in public administration, business administration, occupational health science, industrial hygiene, accounting, or a related field.
- Minimum of one year of responsible administrative experience, preferably in local government; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Valid driver’s license from the state of residence; a valid license must be presented at the point of hire.
- Compliance with the established medical and physical standards for the class of work; the medical examination must be conducted by a physician designated by the Personnel Board and the applicant is responsible for the cost.
- Ability to request accommodation for a disability by contacting the Mobile Civil Service at 251‑470‑7727.
Responsibilities
- Conduct research on federal and state legislation, analyze the information, and compile reports.
- Meet with the public to discuss problems and complaints, handling interactions tactfully, courteously, and effectively.
- Maintain quality assurance and departmental measures by assisting in the development and enforcement of policies and procedures.
- Oversee the departmental budget.
