Ignite is currently seeking a driven, detail-oriented Software Developer/Data Engineer to join our team supporting the Missile & Space Intelligence Center in Huntsville, AL. This position is expected to be On-site with some hybrid opportunities.
- Designs, implements, and operates data management systems for intelligence needs.
- Designs how data will be stored, accessed, used, integrated, and managed by different data regimes and digital systems.
- Works with data users to determine, create, and populate optimal data architectures, structures, and systems.
- Plans, designs, and optimizes data throughput and query performance.
- Participates in the selection of backend database technologies (e.g., SQL, No
SQL, HPC), their configuration and utilization, and the optimization of the full data pipeline infrastructure to support the actual content, volume, ETL, and periodicity of data to support queries and analysis. - Maintains and extends existing data centralization and automation software.
- Provides expertise in Python software development and uses Python to read, create, and modify relational and graph databases, and to provide REST API services for databases.
- Uses Git for software version control and follows Agile development methodologies and the full software development life cycle (SDLC).
- Creates and maintains documentation and technical flow charts and specifications for reference, reporting, and security.
- Provides expertise in Apache Airflow and uses it to design and implement data pipelines for extract, transform, and load operations and for task automation.
- Develops production machine learning pipelines from existing prototype models using Python and Apache Airflow.
- Collaborates with data scientists and algorithm developers to design and implement software applications pertaining to data and ML pipelines.
- Provides expertise in Linux OS and Docker, using Linux as the primary development environment and Docker to containerize applications.
- Maintains and extends existing data infrastructure and provides expertise in databases and database design, including SQL, No
SQL, and ORMs. - Develops data models for various data modalities.
Collaborates with MSIC personnel and shares leading practices and lessons learned in formal training events. Collaborates with other contractor teams supporting each division across MSIC who will operate as domain-specific mission owners. These teams provide domain expertise as it pertains to MSIC's S&TI mission and develop and maintain domain-specific data processing and analytic tools integrated into automated workflows and applications developed under this effort.

- 2+ years’ experience in data engineering, data science, software engineering, machine learning engineering
