Minimum QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent, four years of directly related experience in materials management, receiving, purchasing, and/or inventory control, and possession of a valid driver’s license and maintenance of a driving record sufficient to maintain insurance coverage under the University of South Alabama. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Preferred QualificationsExperience in materials management of maintenance and building repair supplies is highly preferred.
Job Description SummaryThe University of South Alabama’s Facilities Inventory Warehouse is seeking to hire a Central Receiving Coordinator. Interested candidates should apply to be considered.
Essential Functions- Manages Central Receiving processes including working with delivery rivers to take possession of deliveries, ensuring items are picked up/delivered to departments within 48 hours of delivery to Warehouse, verifying the accuracy of items received with items ordered, classifies newly purchased inventory, etc.
- Initiates/coordinates with Moving Services for the delivery of all supplies and shipments to departments and/or job sites.
- Serves as backup for scheduling Work Orders for Moving Services.
- Receives items for stock room inventory, completes all necessary documentation, and compares inventory cost and quality.
- Works with Accountants to reconcile and resolve discrepancies with Inventory balance.
- Works with the Inventory Control Coordinator to purchase materials for departments, contracts, and project work requests.
- Monitors rental areas to ensure areas do not possess any prohibited items, contact is made with departments annually to walkthrough rental area, that keys are returned at the conclusion of rental period, etc.
- Delivers exception in stock, while balancing stock levels on all warehouse items to support the University’s success.
- Participates actively in the maintenance and/or implementation of all software.
- Assists in issuing inventory items to customers as either sales order, work order, or parts transfer using a computerized system.
- Interacts by telephone, letter, email or in person with vendors and University departments.
- Performs daily, monthly, and/or quarterly inventory of warehouse and storage areas which may require climbing, stooping, bending, squatting, and using a ladder.
- Utilizes a forklift and pallet jack to move inventory.
- Moves items weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Assigns duties and checks work of lower-level staff.
- Utilizes a University vehicle in transporting materials and supplies.
- Maintains Stockroom in a clean and orderly manner, to include cleaning and dusting shelves, walls and floors.
- Follows all physical security and safety guidelines for overhead storage, proper use of PPE , and equipment.
- Maintains a professional business outlook and represents the University’s core values at all times.
- Regular and prompt attendance.
- Ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required.
- Related duties as required.
