Accounts Payable Specialist

Description

We are looking for an Accounts Payable Specialist to join a construction-focused organization in Modesto, California on a Contract basis. This on-site role supports the day-to-day accounts payable function by ensuring invoices are reviewed, coded, and prepared for timely payment. The ideal candidate brings strong accuracy, sound judgment, and the ability to keep financial records organized in a fast-moving environment.

Responsibilities:

- Process incoming vendor invoices from initial receipt through payment preparation while maintaining accuracy at each stage.

- Assign correct general ledger accounts and departmental coding to invoices in alignment with company procedures.

- Enter invoice details into the accounting system with a high level of precision and consistency.

- Coordinate payment setup for approved invoices, including support for ACH transactions and check runs.

- Maintain complete and well-organized accounts payable files to support recordkeeping and audit readiness.

- Address questions from vendors and internal teams regarding invoice details, payment timing, and account status.

- Monitor invoice workflow to help ensure deadlines are met and outstanding items are resolved promptly.

Requirements

- Previous experience handling full-cycle accounts payable activities.

- Demonstrated skill in invoice coding, account allocation, and high-volume data entry.

- Familiarity with payment processing methods, including ACH and check run support.

- Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify and correct discrepancies.

- Ability to manage priorities independently in a deadline-driven work setting.

- Clear communication skills for working with vendors and internal stakeholders.

- Proficiency with standard accounting systems and basic office software tools.
