Entry-Level Accountant

We are looking for an entry-level accountant to support financial operations for an organization in Modesto, California. This long-term contract position is well suited for someone who enjoys detailed accounting work, maintaining accurate records, and contributing to program-based financial reporting. The role focuses on core accounting duties tied to programs and compliance needs.

Responsibilities:

• Record and post journal entries in the general ledger while assisting with period-end and program close activities.
• Review account activity, investigate discrepancies, and complete bank reconciliations to maintain accurate financial records.
• Track financial transactions and supporting documentation for designated programs, including grant- and fund-related accounts.
• Prepare invoices and billing documentation for assigned programs in accordance with reporting and funding requirements.
• Compile and submit financial reports for oversight agencies, including reporting connected to government programs.
• Maintain organized accounting records and ensure program files are current, complete, and audit ready.
• Support accounts payable and accounts receivable processes by verifying transactions and helping resolve routine issues.
