Position: Staff Services Technician (Social Media) Part-Time

Staff Services Technician Opportunity

The Staff Services Technician performs a variety of technical and administrative support functions with a primary focus on multimedia production, communications support, and project coordination. Under general supervision, the incumbent is responsible for videography and photography, including planning, capturing, and editing visual content to support departmental operations, training, and public information efforts; develop and disseminate work assignments; and will perform other related work as required.

Typical tasks include carrying out high level administration functions, supporting the complex administrative needs of staff, gathering, coordinating, and organizing information and data for required record keeping and reporting needs, maintaining proficiency in the use of software and hardware utilized, coordinating and monitoring materials required to be on hand, creating and preparing statistical reports related to operational functions, interpreting statistical data for department administrators, performing and supervising routine administrative and clerical tasks, and training, supervising, and evaluating clerical staff.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education/Experience)

Skills/Abilities include supervising staff conducting technical assistance, working independently, under general supervision, interpreting and preparing statistical reports, communicating effectively, speaking and writing in a clear, concise manner, effectively managing time and prioritizing work tasks around strict timelines and deadlines, developing and maintaining record-keeping systems and electronic databases, preparing recommendations for Departmental and County review, sitting at a desk for extended amounts of time, and performing physical tasks such as lifting, bending, stooping, reaching overhead, and pushing, pulling, squatting, twisting, and turning.

Knowledge includes modern office practices/record-keeping, statistical record keeping and reporting concepts, methods and techniques, data processing relating to budget control or payroll, principles and techniques of employee supervision, and spelling, grammar, and elements of proper writing procedures.

Education/

Experience:

Completion of thirty (30) college semester units in Public or Business Administration or related area. Pattern II:
Two (2) years performing highly complex clerical duties with lead-worker, programmatically or accounting responsibilities. Proof of education is required for verification purposes at the time of application. Applicants who are unable to submit proof must call  to make other arrangements before 5 pm on the final filing date. Failure to submit proof or make other arrangements before the final filing deadline will result in disqualification.

Desirable qualifications include two (2) years of experience in media or community organization relations, including the development of content for social media, websites, and other public-facing platforms.

Applications are carefully screened based on information provided. Those who submit incomplete applications that lack relevant qualifications or do not submit all required documents will not be invited to move on. Written Examination. Applicants will be invited to participate in a written exam that tests knowledge for the position.

Oral Examination. Applicants are invited to a panel interview in which they will be evaluated by County subject matter experts. Eligible Lists. Candidates who pass the examination will be placed on an eligible list for that classification. Eligible lists are effective for six months but may be extended up to eighteen months.
