Are you an organized, detail-driven automotive professional who knows how to keep vehicles—and departments—moving in the right direction?

Modesto Subaru, a proud member of the family-owned Stevens Management Company, is looking for an Automotive Internal Service Advisor to join our busy Service Department. This is not a traditional customer-facing advisor position. Your primary customers will be our internal teams, and your focus will be coordinating service work for our new and pre-owned inventory.

From pre-delivery inspections and used vehicle reconditioning to repair orders and sublet work, you’ll serve as the communication hub between Sales, Service, Parts, and our technicians. If you enjoy creating order in a fast-paced environment, following every detail through to completion, and helping an entire team succeed, this could be the perfect fit for you!

At Modesto Subaru, we’re about more than just selling and servicing cars—we’re committed to creating positive experiences for our customers, employees, and community. We live the Subaru Love Promise through the principles of HEART:
Honesty, Empathy, Appreciation, Respect, and Trust.

As part of our team, you’ll work in a fast-moving, collaborative environment where clear communication, accountability, and teamwork make a real difference.

What You’ll Do
  • Serve as the main point of contact between the Service and Sales departments for internal vehicle work.
  • Write, track, update, and close repair orders for new and pre-owned vehicles.
  • Check in new vehicles and coordinate pre-delivery inspections (PDIs).
  • Manage PDI paperwork and ensure all required work is properly documented.
  • Write repair orders for used vehicle inspections, reconditioning, and approved repairs.
  • Coordinate sublet repairs for both the new and pre-owned vehicle departments.
  • Communicate inspection results, repair needs, costs, approvals, delays, and completion times.
  • Work closely with technicians to provide accurate repair descriptions and clear instructions.
  • Partner with the Parts Department to confirm needed parts are ordered and available.
  • Monitor vehicles throughout the service process and follow up to keep work moving.
  • Help prioritize internal repair work based on inventory and Sales Department needs.
  • Maintain accurate records of services performed, repair costs, and vehicle status.
  • Identify potential delays and communicate them before they affect vehicle readiness.
  • Ensure completed vehicles are returned to the Sales Department promptly and professionally.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by management.
You’ll Be a Great Fit If You Are
  • A strong communicator who enjoys working across multiple departments.
  • Highly organized and able to manage several vehicles, repair orders, and deadlines at once.
  • Detail-oriented and committed to getting the paperwork right the first time.
  • Proactive about following up and keeping others informed.
  • Comfortable working in a busy dealership where priorities can change quickly.
  • A team player who treats others with honesty, respect, and professionalism.
  • Someone who takes ownership, solves problems, and follows through on commitments.
  • Interested in building a long-term career in the automotive industry.
Qualifications
  • Understanding of automotive service processes and terminology.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, time-management, and problem-solving abilities.
