Construction Laborer
This role supports landfill construction projects by installing and repairing structures and equipment across multiple sites in the Central Valley and East Bay Area. You will perform physically demanding work using hand and power tools, assist with underground utilities and pipeline construction, and occasionally operate heavy equipment. Reliability, consistent attendance, and the ability to work safely in challenging outdoor conditions are essential to success in this position.
Responsibilities include:
- Install and repair structures and equipment on landfill sites in accordance with project plans and safety standards.
- Dig trenches using both hand tools, such as shovels, and trenching equipment to support underground construction and utility work.
- Handle, move, and organize construction materials safely and efficiently across active landfill job sites.
- Lay and fuse pipeline for underground utilities, ensuring proper alignment, connections, and integrity of the pipeline systems.
- Support pipeline construction activities, including site preparation, excavation, back filling, and cleanup.
- Assist with underground utility work, including locating utilities and preparing work areas for excavation and installation.
- Operate or assist with operating heavy equipment such as backhoes, excavators, skid steers, and dump trucks as directed and when qualified.
- Use hand and power tools for cutting, fastening, assembling, and general construction tasks as required by the project.
- Follow all safety procedures, including the proper use of personal protective equipment such as visibility vests, hard hats, work boots, and safety glasses.
- Travel to various landfill sites throughout the Central Valley and East Bay Area, either by meeting at the office location to ride in a company vehicle or driving directly to the job site.
- Work effectively as part of a field crew that includes laborers, equipment operators, and a supervisor or lead, maintaining clear communication and teamwork.
- Perform job duties consistently in all weather conditions, including hot, cold, wet, and rainy environments, while maintaining productivity and safety.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area and assist with general site housekeeping to support safe and efficient operations.
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Modesto, CA. The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00/hr eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
