Position: Junior Graphic Designer
Reports To: Creative Services Manager
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
SUMMARY
The Junior Graphic Designer supports the First Tactical Creative Services team by assisting in the development of visual assets across print and digital channels. This role works closely with Marketing, Sales, and Product teams to execute designs that align with brand standards, support business goals, and maintain consistency across all touchpoints. This is a hands-on, production-focused role ideal for a designer early in their career who is eager to learn, grow, and refine their craft.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support the Creative Services Manager and senior designers in executing day-to-day design needs
- Assist in creating marketing and sales materials including presentations, brochures, flyers, signage, and digital assets
- Adapt existing design templates and assets to meet specific sales, retail, or promotional needs
- Help maintain brand consistency across all visual materials by following established brand guidelines
- Create production-ready files for print and digital use under guidance and review
- Assist with point-of-sale (POS) materials, in-store signage, and basic packaging layouts
- Support catalog updates by assisting with layout revisions, image placement, and content updates
- Prepare and update digital assets for email campaigns, social media, and web use
- Make revisions based on feedback from internal stakeholders and the creative team
- Organize and maintain design files, ensuring proper versioning and file structure
- Coordinate with internal teams to ensure design deliverables meet timelines and project requirements
- Assist with vendor and printer file prep as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned
EXPERIENCE / EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, Visual Communication, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)
- 2+ years of professional graphic design experience (internships or freelance experience acceptable)
- A portfolio demonstrating foundational design skills, including layout, typography, and digital/print work
- Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign)
- Basic understanding of typography, color theory, and design principles
- Willingness to learn and accept feedback in a collaborative environment
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines with guidance and direction
- Strong attention to detail and organization skills
- Interest in apparel, outdoor, tactical, or lifestyle brands is a plus but not required
PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORK CONDITIONS
- Prolonged periods of sitting and computer use
- Frequent use of design software requiring visual focus and manual dexterity
- Regular communication with team members via meetings, email, and messaging platforms
- Occasional lifting of light materials (up to 20 pounds)
- Limited travel may be required for events, production meetings, or trade shows
