The Dental Supervisor will oversee the day‑to‑day operations of the dental team, ensuring smooth clinic workflows, compliance with relevant standards, and high‑quality patient care. Working under the supervision of the Dental Office Manager, the Dental Supervisor will function as a key leader in the dental department, supporting staff, addressing operational challenges, and fostering a collaborative work environment. This role requires diligence, strong organizational skills, and effective communication to ensure seamless coordination between team members and the Dental Office Manager.
Key Responsibilities- Team Leadership and Coordination:
Supervise dental assistants and other clinical support staff to ensure efficient clinic operations. - Team Leadership and Coordination:
Manage daily team schedules, assignments, and clinic flow to meet productivity goals and patient care standards. - Team Leadership and Coordination:
Conduct regular team meetings to communicate updates, reinforce policies, and address staff concerns. - Team Leadership and Coordination:
Provide mentorship, training, and support to team members to promote professional growth and performance improvement.
- Operational Oversight:
Monitor and maintain clinic compliance with FQHC standards, including HRSA guidelines, infection control protocols, and OSHA regulations. - Operational Oversight:
Oversee the inventory and ordering of dental supplies and equipment, ensuring the clinic remains fully stocked and operational. - Operational Oversight:
Assist in developing and implementing standard operating procedures (SOPs) to enhance efficiency and consistency. - Operational Oversight:
Work closely with the Dental Office Manager to address workflow challenges and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Patient Care and

Ensure the dental team delivers compassionate, high‑quality care to all patients. - Patient Care and

Promote adherence to patient care protocols and ensure the proper use of the electronic dental records system (e.g., EDR).

Assist in the onboarding and orientation of new dental team members. - Administrative Responsibilities:

Collaborate with the Dental Office Manager to track clinic performance metrics, such as patient volumes and productivity rates. - Administrative Responsibilities:
Participate in audits and compliance reviews as required by FQHC regulations.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a dental office setting, preferably in an FQHC or community health center.
- Previous supervisory or team lead experience.
- Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and guide staff.
- Excellent organizational and problem‑solving abilities.
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Proficiency with electronic dental record systems and basic office software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
- In‑depth knowledge of dental clinic operations, infection control protocols, and regulatory requirements.
- High school diploma or GED required; college degree in a related field preferred.
- Certification in dental assisting or another relevant credential required.
- Familiarity with HRSA compliance standards and FQHC workflows preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining compliance standards.
- Ability to foster a culture of collaboration, respect, and accountability among team members.
