Position: Part-Time Counselor, General - Student Services - Modesto Junior College 2025-2026

Overview

Modesto Junior College (MJC) is seeking a part-time faculty member in the School of Counseling. The candidate will contribute to MJC’s commitment to educating a racially and socioeconomically diverse student population. MJC serves about 24,000 students annually with a demographic distribution including a majority of racially minoritized students.

MJC is a designated Hispanic Serving Institution. The successful candidate will join efforts to expand wrap-around student support services and innovative pedagogical techniques to improve equity and overall student success.

The application close date is Tuesday, June 30th, 2026 at 11:59pm. Part-time pools remain open for up to twelve (12) months. Applications are viewed by departments on an “as needed” basis near or at the beginning of each semester.

: $54.27 to $86.76

Doctorate Range
: $63.95 to $89.04

Salary Schedule
:  Certified Part-time Non-Instructional Hourly Salary Schedule

Part Time Faculty office Hours are paid at a flat rate of $30 per hour.

Not Eligible for Benefits
:
With the exception of Workers’ Compensation coverage, not eligible to participate in the District’s benefit programs.

Position Summary

The successful candidate will provide comprehensive counseling services to a diverse, multicultural, multigenerational student population. Counseling services include academic, career and personal counseling. Duties may include individual appointments, walk-in appointments, group guidance courses, workshops, evening and weekend assignments, and other outreach activities. Participation in department and college-wide committees is expected. The candidate must use available technologies and apply current counseling and career theories and methods, and maintain effective relations with all areas of the college community to promote counseling services and programs.

Minimum Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Master’s in counseling, rehabilitation counseling, clinical psychology, counseling psychology, guidance counseling, educational counseling, social work, or career development (

Note:

a license as a Marriage, Family, and Child Counselor is an alternative qualification for this discipline, per Title 5 Section 53410.1) OR possess a California Community College Counselor credential appropriate to the subject OR the equivalent.

  • General counseling experience at a community college.
  • Current knowledge of Counseling and understanding of the comprehensive role of a general counselor at a community college.
