Salary and BenefitsHourly Rate: $78.15 – $124.94 (Doctorate Range: $92.09 – $128.22). Part‑time faculty office hours paid at $30 per hour. Not eligible for district benefits (except Workers’ Compensation).
Scope of AssignmentUnder the supervision of the Division Dean, the instructor will deliver lecture or laboratory instruction, evaluate students, provide academic advising, and perform related duties. The instructor will join an Anthropology department focused on student equity and curriculum responsiveness.
Minimum Qualifications- Master’s in anthropology or archaeology, or Bachelor’s in either field plus a Master’s in sociology, biological sciences, forensic sciences, genetics, or paleontology (or equivalent).

- Understanding of student diversity and sensitivity to challenges faced by a diverse community‑college student population.
- Ability to develop curriculum that enhances student equity.
- Commitment to student and colleague relationships, professional growth, and collaborative governance.
- Mobility: sit or stand for long periods and move about office; reach above and below desk level.
- Dexterity: fine manipulation to operate keyboard, handle papers, write.
- Lifting: occasionally lift up to 25 lbs.
- Visual: close vision for reading and adjusting focus.
- Hearing/Talking: normal speech, telephone and in‑person communication.
- Emotional/Psychological: decision making, concentration, frequent deadline‑driven tasks, public contact.

Desired Professional Characteristics- Experience teaching community‑college anthropology, especially basic skills.
- Current knowledge of anthropology and assessment strategies.
- Competent in new pedagogies such as Universal Design and other approaches that improve student equity.
- Experience with minoritized student groups and culturally responsive teaching.
- Knowledge of Hispanic‑Serving designation practices.
- Teach lower‑division anthropology courses (in‑person, online, evening, Saturdays).
- Advise students on course requirements, evaluation, and attendance.
- Prepare and grade assignments and examinations.
- Maintain attendance, records, and submit according to policies.
- Develop, implement, and assess student‑learning outcomes; use data for improvement.
- Engage in data inquiry and self‑assessment to promote student success, persistence, and equity.
- Participate in professional development to fulfill FLEX requirements.
- Maintain current subject knowledge and teaching strategies.
- Maintain professional conduct and ethics.
