Salary Range / Other The Hourly Range: $54.27 to $86.76
The Doctorate Range: $63.95 to $89.04
The Certified Part-time Non-Instructional Hourly Salary Schedule. Part Time Faculty office Hours are paid at a flat rate of $30 per hour.
Benefits Not Eligible for Benefits. With the exception of Workers’ Compensation coverage, not eligible to participate in the District’s benefit programs.
Scope Of Assignment Under the supervision of the Dean of Student Services, the Part Time Special Programs Counselor provides comprehensive counseling services to diverse student populations. Counseling includes academic, career, and personal counseling. Primary assignment includes working with EOPS/CARE and Foster Youth. Counseling may also involve Justice Involved, Veterans, CalWORKs, and other disproportionately impacted student populations. Duties may include individual appointments, walk-ins, group guidance, workshops, evening/weekend assignments, and other outreach activities;
supports students in achieving goals through academic and support counseling, financial aid, and other services. Must use available technologies and apply current career theories and methods. Maintain effective relations with all areas of the college community and promote the counseling services of Special Programs and Student Services where appropriate. The successful candidate will join a Student Services Division focused on specialized supportive services and equity-driven strategies to improve student completion.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Master’s in counseling, rehabilitation counseling, clinical psychology, counseling psychology, guidance counseling, educational counseling, social work, or career development. An alternative qualification is a license as a Marriage, Family, and Child Counselor (per Title 5 Section 53410.1) or possession of a California Community College Counselor credential appropriate to the subject OR the equivalent.
- Have completed a minimum of nine semester units of coursework predominantly relating to ethnic minorities or persons handicapped by language, social or economic disadvantages; or
- Six semester units or equivalent of a college-level counseling practicum or counseling field work courses in a community college EOPS program, or in a program dealing predominantly with ethnic minorities or persons handicapped by language, social or economic disadvantages
- In addition, have two years of occupational experience in work relating to ethnic minorities or persons handicapped by language, social or economic disadvantages.
