Position: Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps (JROTC) Instructor

Under general direction, the Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps Instructor will incorporate Foundation, Pathway, and content standards into a curriculum of applied learning that is fully integrated into the school’s curriculum and is central to the learning process.

Responsibilities
  • Structure a physical classroom environment conducive to learning.
  • Establish, maintain, and instruct students in best practices for safety related to operation of tools, equipment, and operating procedures, consistent with industry expectations.
  • Establish and maintain expected standards of student behavior with administrative support.
  • Establish a system of student evaluation within the guidelines prescribed in State law or adopted by the District.
  • Continually evaluate and record various aspects of students’ progress and report to parents as needed and required.
  • Incorporate and instruct students in academic, technical, and career development skills to enhance career readiness, including college readiness, if applicable.
  • Teach within the course of study for subject area or at grade level as prescribed in State law or adopted by the District.
  • Plan and implement standards-based lessons.
  • Provide planned learning experiences using a variety of instructional methods and strategies in order to motivate students.
  • Maintain an awareness of changing industry standards and assist with revising curriculum to stay current with industry expectations.
  • Identify students’ needs and cooperate with other professional staff members in assessing and assisting students.
  • Provide varied instruction as appropriate in order to attempt to adapt the curriculum to the needs of students.
  • Perform basic attendance accounting tasks as required.
  • Observe professional working hours as designated by the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
  • Attend school and District meetings as designated by the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
  • Participate in program advisory activities, including serving as advisor to students participating in JROTC competitions.
  • Supervise students in out-of-classroom activities as required by the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
  • Perform adjunct duties as designated by the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
  • Share the responsibility of communicating the educational program to the community through such activities as open house and back-to-school nights and participate in program promotion through feeder school outreach, community events/projects.
  • Seek to improve competency by periodically participating in professional growth activities.
  • Provide emergency lesson plans for substitutes.
  • Plan and coordinate the work of aides and other paraprofessionals and student teachers (when applicable).
  • Coordinate and supervise students in out of class JROTC activities throughout the year.
  • Participate in advisory committee meetings and in state and national leadership events.
  • Manage specialized JROTC budgets consistent with District accounting procedures.
  • Complete and submit related accountability reports including, but not limited to, program participation, JROTC activities, expenditure reports, program outcomes and student data, as needed.
  • Experience Minimum Requirement: Successful certification by the United States Army.
  • Education/Credential Minimum Requirement: Appropriate credential issued related to specific assignment/grade level.
Pay range and compensation package

Certificated Salary Schedule (Guaranteed U. S. Army Minimum Instructor Pay)
