Salary Range / Other

The hourly range is $54.27 to $86.76. Doctorate range is $63.95 to $89.04. Part‑time faculty office hours are paid at a flat rate of $30 per hour.

Scope of Assignment

The successful candidate will join the Accommodations & Support Services department that creates curriculum responsive to student needs, increases student completion through strategies aimed at increasing equity.

Minimum Qualifications

Master’s degree in counseling, guidance counseling, student personnel, clinical or counseling psychology, education counseling, social work, career development, marriage and family therapy, or a Bachelor’s degree in marriage and family therapy with a license as a Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT); and either 15 or more semester units in upper division or graduate level coursework related to people with disabilities, or completion of six semester units or an equivalent graduate‑level counseling practicum in a post‑secondary Disabled Students Programs and Services program, or two years of full‑time experience in counseling students with disabilities or in related professional settings.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in community college‑based grant‑funded or categorical programs.
  • Competence in current professional principles, practices and techniques for counseling.
  • Experience counseling community college students from traditionally disadvantaged backgrounds, students with disabilities, veterans, or single parents.
  • Ability to use available technologies and classroom assessment instruments.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach counseling courses and facilitate workshops, orientations, and seminars.
  • Experience conducting educational workshops, advising, and interpreting IEPs and related reports.
  • Knowledge of ADA, CCCCO, and other regulations for ASC populations.
  • At least two years of counseling experience at a higher education institution within the last six years.
  • Willingness to participate in student services programs and flexible hours.
  • Commitment to shared governance and a team approach.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Under the supervision of the Dean of Student Services, provide personalized academic, career, and personal counseling (face‑to‑face or remote) for ASC and Veterans students.
  • Determine disability verification through observation or analysis of medical and psychological documentation.
  • Stay current with degree, certificate, transfer, and ASC information to advise students and train other counselors.
  • Provide ASC students with information regarding resources, opportunities, and assistance available at the college and in the community.
  • Teach Individualized Instruction & Services (IIS) courses.
  • Maintain accurate records, including ASC mandated reports for Title 5 and other regulations.
  • Participate in district and academic senate governance processes and committees.
  • Lead group presentations, workshops, seminars, orientations, and other matriculation functions.
  • Coordinate student success initiatives in the ASC program.
  • Serve as liaison for ASC issues to academic and career technical education departments, student services, and faculty.
  • Participate in program review, development, and assessment of service outcomes.
  • Collaborate with Department of Rehabilitation Counselors and other campus units.
  • Implement innovative approaches to better serve students.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development related to ASC and counseling.
  • Serve as a resource on both Modesto Junior College campuses for ASC population issues.
  • Engage in community outreach as requested by the Dean of Student Services.
  • Adhere to all district policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
