SalaryThe hourly range: $78.15 to $124.94. Doctorate range: $92.09 to $128.22. Part‑time faculty office hours are paid at a flat rate of $30 per hour.
BenefitsNot eligible for benefits. With the exception of Workers’ Compensation coverage, the candidate is not eligible to participate in the district’s benefit programs.
Scope Of AssignmentThe successful candidate will join a Dance department that is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion. We value the exploration of diverse perspectives and will work to reduce barriers for students by providing the support and resources needed to succeed.
Minimum Qualifications- Master’s degree in dance, physical education with a dance emphasis, or theatre with a dance emphasis;
- OR Bachelor’s degree in any of the above combined with a Master’s degree in physical education, any life science, physiology, theatre arts, kinesiology, humanities, performing arts, or music;
- Equivalent qualifications as determined by the California State Chancellor’s Office.
- Experience teaching dance technique classes at the collegiate level in more than one genre of dance, including modern, jazz, ballet, and hip hop.
- Experience as a modern and jazz choreographer working with students at the collegiate level.
- Experience working collaboratively with faculty and staff related to costume, lighting, and technical design.
- Experience advising community college dance majors regarding transfer and audition processes within the 4‑year CSU and UC systems.
- Experience with outreach and recruitment, including students, community, and career.
- Knowledge and willingness to utilize Open Educational Resources to increase student access.
- Ability to develop curriculum or services that stress innovation and improve student equity.
- Enthusiasm for the learning process.
- Commitment to supportive relationships with students and colleagues.
- Participation in professional growth and staying current in subject area and state initiatives.
- Ability to operate effectively in an environment of change and ambiguity.
- Vision and energy to plan and organize programs to enhance student success.

- Mobility: ability to sit or stand for long periods, move around an office, and reach above and below desk level.
- Dexterity: fine manipulation sufficient to operate a keyboard, handle individual papers, write and take notes.
- Lifting: occasional lifting of papers, files, equipment, and material weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Visual requirements: close vision sufficient to read files, documents, and computer screens and to do close‑up work; ability to adjust focus frequently.
- Hearing/talking: ability to hear normal speech, speak and hear on the telephone, and speak in person.
- Emotional/psychological factors: ability to make decisions and concentrate; frequent contact with others including some public contact; frequent deadlines and time‑limited assignments.
- Teach lower‑division college courses in dance, including modern, ballet, jazz, and hip hop.
- Participate in recruitment activities for the dance program on or off campus.
- Advance equitable student learning through dedicated, exemplary instruction.
- Inform students of course requirements, evaluation procedures, and attendance requirements.
- Prepare and grade class assignments and examinations and inform students of their academic progress.
- Maintain attendance, scholastic, and other records and submit them according to published policies and deadlines.
- Develop, implement, and assess student‑learning outcomes for courses and programs and use the results for improvement.
- Engage in data inquiry and self‑assessment to develop strategies for student success, persistence, and equity.
- Participate in professional development activities to fulfill mandatory FLEX requirements.
- Maintain current knowledge in the subject matter area and effective teaching/learning strategies to meet the needs of all learning styles.
- Maintain appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics.
