Job Description & How to Apply Below

Shape the future of K–12 education—at a district wide scale.

TETER is seeking a Senior Educational Facilities Planner to lead high-impact master planning efforts that guide millions in public investment. In this role, you’ll help school districts make confident decisions about modernization, growth, and long-range infrastructure strategy.

You won’t just deliver plans—you’ll see your work move from vision to implementation, partnering closely with architects and engineers to bring ideas to life.

This position focuses on the built environment and capital planning side of K–12 education. It does not involve curriculum development, instructional planning, or academic program management.

Why This Role Stands Out

This is a strategic, client-facing role ideal for professionals who enjoy:

  • Advising superintendents and boards on complex facilities decisions
  • Turning data (enrollment, capacity, condition) into clear direction
  • Balancing educational goals with budget and operational realities
  • Leading conversations that shape campuses for decades
What You'll Do
  • Lead district wide facilities master planning and capital programs
  • Guide decisions on modernization, replacement, growth, and consolidation
  • Align enrollment projections and educational programs with facility needs
  • Develop capital improvement plans, including prioritization and phasing
  • Partner with architects and engineers to transition planning into design
  • Present recommendations to leadership teams, boards, and communities

Facilitate workshops and stakeholder engagement sessions
What You Bring

Required

  • 8–10+ years in facilities planning, architecture, or capital programs
  • Experience with K–12 master planning or bond-funded projects
  • Strong ability to translate data into actionable planning strategies
  • Excellent presentation and stakeholder communication skills
  • Experience working with or within A/E/C teams

Experience limited solely to instructional leadership, curriculum planning, or academic program management will not meet the requirements of this role.

Preferred
  • California public school experience (CDE/DSA familiarity)
  • Experience presenting to boards or executive leadership
  • Professional licensure or advanced degree (a plus, not required)
Compensation & Benefits
  • Salary range: $115,500–150,000 (actual pay depends on licensure, qualifications, experience, location, and business needs)*
  • Hybrid work schedule (after trial period) based on business needs and work/life balance
  • Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) and 401(k)
  • Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance
  • Wellness Program
  • Paid Time Off
  • Professional Licensing Support
  • And more!

* Candidates with less planning experience are encouraged to apply but role placement and annual salary may be in a lower range, such as $90,000-$105,000 for Educational Planner I, or $,000 for Educational Planner II.
