Modesto Junior College (MJC) is seeking a part-time faculty member in Animal Science. The ideal candidate will share MJC's commitment to educating its racially and socioeconomically diverse student population. MJC currently serves about 24,000 students annually, the majority of whom are from racially minoritized populations, with the following breakdown: 53.5% Hispanic, 35.1% White, 4.9% Asian, 3.4% African-American/Black, 1.4% Filipino, 0.5% Native American, 1.1% Pacific Islander, 0.2% Multiracial/Other (MJC Office of Institutional Effectiveness: https://(Use the "Apply for this Job" box below).

The successful candidate will join the School of Agriculture, one of California's most established and respected agricultural programs. MJC's Animal Science program provides students with hands-on, applied training for careers in animal production, management, and related agricultural industries.

Doctorate Range: $92.09 to $-2026 Certified Part-time Instructor/Overload Hourly Salary Schedule)
Part Time Faculty office Hours are paid at a flat rate of $30 per hour.

Minimum Qualifications - MINIMUMQUALIFICATIONSBachelor's degree(s) or higher and two years of professional experience, or an Associate's degree(s) and six years of professional experience. Professional experience required must be directly related to teaching assignment.

Knowledge of and ability to appraise the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds of community college students. Sensitivity to the needs, problems and challenges associated with the diversity of the community college student population.

PHYSICALANDMENTALSTANDARDSMobility: ability to sit or stand for long periods, move about office, classroom, laboratory, and livestock environments, and reach above and below desk or equipment level.

Dexterity: fine manipulation sufficient to operate a keyboard, handle papers, tools, or agricultural instruments, and write and take notes.

Lifting: occasional lifting of papers, tools, animal equipment, or materials weighing up to 25 pounds.

Visual Requirements: close and distance vision sufficient to read files, documents, computer screens, and observe livestock and field activities; ability to adjust focus frequently.

Hearing/Talking: ability to hear normal speech, speak and hear on the telephone, and communicate in person in indoor and outdoor environments.

Emotional/Psychological Factors: ability to make decisions, manage safety, concentrate, and meet deadlines while maintaining frequent contact with students, colleagues, and community members.
