Summary of Position

The Senior IT Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and securing all network and server infrastructure at JS West. This role also manages the IT Support team, overseeing all end‑user support operations and directing staff on infrastructure implementation tasks as needed. Reporting to the Director of Information Technology, this position ensures systems remain secure and available to support JS West's operations while delivering infrastructure projects that enable long‑term company growth.

The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented, self‑driven, an excellent communicator, and effective at leading both projects and people.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Serve as the technical authority and subject matter expert for all network, server, and security infrastructure across JS West locations.
  • Design and implement network architecture, including segmentation, firewall configuration, and security zones.
  • Manage IT Support team responsible for all end‑user support requests, overseeing daily operations, escalation workflows, staff development, and service quality.
  • Lead infrastructure‑related projects from planning through completion, delivering on established timelines and budgets.
  • Design infrastructure solutions for new facilities, including cabling, network, and systems architecture.
  • Develop, test, and maintain disaster recovery plans with documented recovery procedures and regular validation.
  • Conduct routine assessments of infrastructure performance, security posture, and capacity; recommend and implement improvements.
  • Manage vendor relationships, contracts, and service agreements for infrastructure and security solutions.
  • Communicate project status, risks, and technical recommendations clearly to IT leadership and cross‑functional stakeholders.
  • Maintain infrastructure documentation, including network diagrams, system configurations, and operational procedures.
  • Collaborate cross‑functionally with the systems team and other departments to assess technological needs.
Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities
  • Strong expertise in network architecture and design, including VLANs, routing, and firewall management (Fortinet experience preferred).
  • Proficiency with virtualization platforms (Proxmox, VMware, or Hyper‑V) in production environments.
  • Solid understanding of Windows Server and Linux administration.
  • Working knowledge of information security principles, including network segmentation, access controls, and threat mitigation.
  • Experience with infrastructure automation and scripting (Power Shell, Bash, or similar).
  • Demonstrated ability to lead technical projects with accountability for outcomes.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including ability to translate technical concepts for non‑technical audiences.
  • Effective prioritization and time management across concurrent initiatives.
  • Ability to manage and develop a support team, including performance oversight, coaching, and workload management.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in infrastructure engineering, with at least 2 years in a senior or lead capacity.
  • Demonstrated track record of delivering infrastructure projects on time and within budget.
  • Experience designing infrastructure for new facilities or major office relocations preferred.
  • Valid driver's license required; travel to regional sites expected.
Physical Demands
  • Occasional work in dusty and loud environments (terminals, server rooms).
  • Ability to lift 40 pounds.
  • Periodic travel to JS West terminal and branch locations.
Range

$106,080 - $145,600 ($51/hr.

- $70/hr.)
