Civil Engineer (Site/Land Development)
We are seeking a Civil Engineer with experience in Site/Land Development to join our engineering team in Modesto, California! We're a full service Engineering and Surveying firm that's been family-owned and operated for over 50 years. We offer the opportunity to work on some of the most exciting projects throughout the state of California! The ideal candidate will lead and support civil design projects for both land development and site development;
focusing on drainage and grading, wet utility design, and overall site layout. This role requires strong technical design skills, proficiency with AutoCAD and Civil 3D, and the ability to coordinate with clients, municipalities, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver projects on time.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare civil site design drawings and engineering calculations for land development and site development projects including grading, drainage, stormwater management (SWM), and utility design.
- Develop and edit plans, details, and technical specifications using AutoCAD and Civil 3D; produce plan sets suitable for permitting and construction.
- Coordinate with project managers, architects, surveyors, contractors, and municipal agencies to resolve design issues and obtain permitting approvals.
- Ensure designs comply with local, state, and federal regulations, zoning ordinances, and industry standards; maintain quality control and project documentation.
- Mentor junior engineers and CAD technicians, review design work, and support a collaborative, safety-focused team environment.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred or EIT/FE with plan to obtain PE within specified timeframe.
- 3+ years of experience in civil site design related to land development or site development projects.
- Proficient in AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
- Strong understanding of stormwater management and permitting processes.
- Working knowledge of local building codes, municipal standards, and utility coordination practices.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to prepare clear reports, permit packages, and client presentations.
- Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills, time management, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
