** Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)

** General Purpose
** The
** Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)
** assists the Occupational Therapist with patient-related activities and provides direct patient care in accordance with physician orders, treatment plans, and applicable regulations.###
** Essential Duties and Responsibilities
*** Treat residents as directed by the supervising Occupational Therapist
* Implement treatment plans according to physician orders
* Record evaluations, daily treatment notes, weekly progress notes, and recertification documentation per OT Board, facility policy, and payer requirements
* Communicate resident progress, problems, and plans with the supervising OT and interdisciplinary team
* Assist nursing staff with training of Restorative Aides as appropriate
* Participate in in-service training programs and care conferences
* Educate residents, families, and caregivers on maintenance programs and discharge planning
* Participate in discharge planning and transition of care
* Maintain a clean, safe, and organized treatment area
* Report equipment issues to ensure safe and effective operation
* Maintain positive, professional relationships with residents, families, and staff###

** Qualifications
* *** Education & Experience
*** Graduate of an accredited
** Occupational Therapy Assistant program
*** Skilled nursing or geriatric experience preferred
** Licensure & Certifications
*** Current, active
** California Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) license
*** Must meet all continuing education requirements
* Must maintain license in good standing with the State Board
** Skills
* ** Proficient in electronic documentation systems (
** Casamba and Point Click Care  preferred**)
* Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
* Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative rehab team###
** Physical Demands
*** Frequent standing, walking, reaching, pushing, and pulling
* Ability to exert up to
** 50 pounds frequently
** and
** 100 pounds occasionally
*** Occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling
* Visual abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception
