Temporary Position

This position is temporary through June 30, 2026 and may be extended depending on the needs of the business.

Overview

Under the supervision of the Shelter Operations Manager, the Interim Shelter Program Coordinator assists with the daily operations and overall functioning of the ACES Shelter Program. This position provides direct operational support, staff supervision, coordination of client services, and compliance oversight to ensure the shelter operates safely, efficiently, and in accordance with Salvation Army policies and program requirements.

Duties And Responsibilities
  • Assist the Shelter Operations Manager with the daily operations and overall functioning of the ACES Shelter Program
  • Maintain and enforce established operational, safety, and emergency protocols at the shelter site
  • Serve as the first-line supervisor for all ACES shelter staff
  • Assign and delegate tasks to shelter floor staff and follow up to ensure timely and accurate completion
  • Oversee case management coordination, including holding weekly meetings with case management staff to ensure client needs are being addressed and required data and reports are accurate and current
  • Assist with compiling and submitting statistics, reports, and other documentation required for grant compliance, funding sources, government agencies, and Salvation Army reporting
  • Support the Shelter Operations Manager with staff scheduling and administration of employee paid time off, as directed
  • Review, verify, and approve employee timekeeping and paid time off entries in UKG for payroll processing
  • Initiate and report workers’ compensation claims to Sedgwick for ACES shelter staff
  • Participate in interviewing and hiring processes for open shelter floor staff positions in coordination with the Shelter Operations Manager and/or Human Resources
  • Facilitate client and program participant house meetings
  • Lead or support periodic staff meetings, as assigned
  • Address client concerns and resolve issues when possible; elevate concerns to the Shelter Operations Manager as needed
  • Review, track, and submit written incident reports and grievances to GS-Reports on a weekly basis, ensuring the Shelter Operations Manager is informed to support appropriate follow-up and decision‑making
  • Support employee disciplinary actions in collaboration with the Shelter Director, Corps Officers, and Human Resources
  • Report employee disciplinary matters to the Shelter Operations Manager and/or Human Resources in a timely manner
  • Ensure daily law enforcement notification of shelter attendance, in accordance with program and agency requirements
  • Assist the Shelter Operations Manager, as directed, with coordinating staff training in First Aid, CPR, AED, Mental Health, Conflict Management, Recovery Programs, and serving at‑risk populations
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
Education And Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent (required)
  • CA driver’s license (required)
  • Experience working in social services (1 year required)
  • Professional licensure in HMIS intake and reporting or willingness to obtain
  • Experienced in mental health, substance use, and trauma
  • Experience supervising staff (1 year required)
  • Experience with Microsoft programs
  • 21 years of age (required)
