Overview
Judge Direct Placement is seeking an EHS Manager to join our Fortune 100 client in California. The Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager will champion a culture where safety, environmental stewardship, and operational excellence are foundational to all activities. This role shapes and executes the site’s EHS strategy, ensures regulatory compliance, and empowers employees and leaders to create a workplace where people thrive and risks are proactively managed.
Responsibilities- Serve as the site leader for all Environmental, Health, Safety, and Sustainability initiatives.
- Partner with plant leadership to strengthen a culture that prioritizes employee well-being, environmental responsibility, and continuous improvement.
- Provide strategic direction and technical expertise to ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and company EHS standards.
- Oversee environmental programs, including air permitting, wastewater management, waste reduction, emissions reporting, and regulatory agency interactions.
- Lead efforts to identify, assess, and mitigate workplace risks through audits, inspections, and proactive improvement initiatives.
- Develop and deliver engaging training programs that build organizational awareness and accountability for safety and environmental performance.
- Facilitate incident investigations, determine root causes, and drive sustainable corrective actions.
- Monitor key performance indicators and leverage data to identify trends, improve performance, and reduce risk.
- Lead site safety committees and engage employees in programs that promote ownership and participation in EHS initiatives.
- Manage workers' compensation processes and support effective return-to-work programs.
- Ensure all environmental reports, permits, records, and compliance documentation are maintained and submitted accurately and timely.
- Foster strong relationships with regulatory agencies and serve as the primary point of contact during inspections and audits.
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, Safety Management, or a related discipline.
- Five or more years of progressive EHS leadership experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- CSP certification or other relevant professional certification is preferred.
- Comprehensive knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT, and applicable state and local regulations.
- Experience developing EHS strategies that drive engagement, improve compliance, and deliver measurable business results.
- Proven ability to lead change, influence stakeholders, and create a culture of accountability.
- Strong investigative, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to engage both frontline employees and senior leaders.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and EHS management systems.
