Packaging Engineer, Manufacturing Production
This person will be the Subject Matter Expert for the Packaging area. This job will oversee all aspects of the packaging and labeling operations with a goal of maximizing throughput. The employee will be responsible for training new or job transfer employees into the packaging department, work with the supervisor implementing and coaching TPM systems, operate labelers, packaging equipment and shrink wrap machines, and ensure all equipment is operating efficiently.
This includes proper labeling of cans, assuring product is packaged in the proper container and that all are sealed properly, ensuring codes are correct and legible, and, if applicable, that the case or package is wrapped securely. The employee maintains records, including overtime, as required, and follows all plant safety and quality rules, reporting incidents & unsafe conditions immediately and maintaining compliance with regulations.
Responsibilities
- Provide work assignments to labeling and packaging on the day-to-day operations.
- Manage truck bay trailer assignments for loading and unloading.
- Must be able to work any shift, drive a forklift, lift, push and pull a minimum of 50 pounds and climb up and down ladders.
- Coordinate the labeling, casing, palletizing, accuracy of production and shipments and incoming goods.
- Assist in troubleshooting problem areas and major equipment malfunctions.
- Provide accountability for all goods manufactured and incoming material receipt while making sure 5S is being adhered to.
- Monitor hour code changes and provide QA throughout packaging process.
- Lead by example as it relates to Safety, GMP, housekeeping and Plant Conduct Rules.
- Ability to get along with fellow associates and management in a professional and respectful manner.
- Assist operators to meet shift throughput targets.
- Must have a basic understanding of computers in order to operate equipment and to perform SAP transactions and apps on tablets.
Employee must come to work promptly and regularly, work under the supervision of others, at times under stressful conditions, work within deadlines, and be able to work professionally with others at all times and in all situations.
The approximate hourly pay for this position is $25.35. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to knowledge, skills and abilities as well as geographic location.
