Salary Range / OtherPlacement on the Yosemite Community College District salary schedule dependent upon education and experience. Salary Schedule – $75,979 to $141,835 per year or $89,533 to $145,028 with an earned doctorate. New personnel limited to a maximum tenth step initial placement based on previous experience – maximum equals $117,949 or $121,140 with an earned doctorate.
BenefitsThe District currently pays for a health options for the employee and dependents. Employees may elect to pay a premium for a higher health option. Vision care and dental insurance premiums for the employee and dependents is District paid. Income protection and life insurance premiums for the employee are also District paid. The estimated cost of District provided benefits (health, dental, vision, and life) is $24,408 annually.
Required Qualifications- Master’s Degree in nursing OR Bachelor’s degree in nursing plus Master’s in health education or health science OR possess a California Community College Instructor credential or equivalent
- At least one‑year experience in the practice of nursing within the last five years, including teaching in a BRN approved nursing program
- At least one year of experience teaching nursing courses, or meeting teaching experience through a graduate course that includes a student practicum
- Current license or eligibility for licensure as a Registered Nurse in California, and a current CPR card
- Knowledge and ability to appraise the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds of community college students; sensitivity to the needs and challenges of this population
All full‑time faculty are expected to participate actively in their disciplines, department activities, and the general intellectual life and governance of the college. Teaching is in‑person face‑to‑face. Primary teaching assignment is at the Satellite Campus at Columbia College. Part of the teaching assignment includes online, evening, non‑traditional times (including off‑site) and weekends.
Responsibilities- Teach lower‑division college courses in Nursing, including Medical/Surgical Nursing in conjunction with Maternal/Child Nursing, Gerontology Nursing, Leadership, Mental Health, or Psychiatric Nursing
- Teach the full‑time load of nursing courses, including Human Patient Simulation Lab, skills lab, clinical and/or online courses in accordance with the college catalog
- Advance equitable student learning through exemplary instruction in accordance with established course outlines
- Inform students of course requirements, evaluation procedures and attendance requirements
- Prepare and grade class assignments and examinations, and provide timely written and verbal feedback related to classroom and practicum performance
- Maintain attendance, scholastic and other records and submit them according to published policies and deadlines
- Attend department, division, and college‑wide meetings on a regular basis
- Post and hold sufficient and regular office hours in accordance with prevailing policy
- Develop, implement, and assess student‑learning outcomes for courses and programs, and use results for improvement
- Participate in orientation and mentorship of full‑time and part‑time instructors
- Integrate the latest research in presentations and utilize a variety of teaching/learning strategies, including technology, to promote student learning and assessment of outcomes
- Tutor and/or provide remediation to nursing students in content areas, skills, and/or medication administration
- Maintain current knowledge and licensure in nursing through continuing education approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN)
- Assist with maintaining college and program accreditation by collecting and analyzing data, writing reports/self‑study, and related activities; participate in writing accreditation and BRN reports
