Position: Quality Assurance Receiving Technician (Night Shift)

Job Title: Quality Assurance Receiving Technician (Monday-Friday from 5:00pm-1:30am)

Reports to: QA Receiving Supervisor

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the inspection and sampling of all incoming raw materials, ingredients, and packaging materials to ensure conformance with established specifications and quality standards.
  • Perform sampling of incoming materials, including large totes and bulk containers, in accordance with established sampling plans and food safety requirements.
  • Conduct inspections and evaluations of product returns, including rejected products related to customer complaints, incorrect shipments, or quality concerns.
  • Evaluate collected samples against Thrive’s established specifications and requirements.
  • Issue incoming material inspection reports and non-conformance reports for materials that do not meet specifications; ensure all documentation is completed accurately and filed appropriately.
  • Review supplier Certificates of Analysis (COAs) against internal specifications to verify compliance.
  • Maintain QA sample storage and sample retention libraries to ensure organization and quick retrieval.
  • Communicate non-conformance findings and quality concerns to management in a timely and professional manner.
  • Monitor and maintain awareness of FDA holds, releases, and related documentation to ensure materials are properly controlled and released for use.
  • Prioritize daily tasks and workload based on operational needs, incoming shipments, production schedules, and business demands.
  • Work closely with warehouse, production, sanitation, and quality teams to support efficient material flow and food safety compliance.
  • Safely perform work within warehouse and production environments with active forklift traffic and moving equipment while following all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Serve as backup support for QA Auditors as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Two years’ experience in field, laboratory, or production facility quality control.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate professionally and effectively, to internal and external customers.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment regarding product quality and food safety decisions.
  • Basic computer and documentation skills required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and some fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires the following percentages of time committed to physical activity: 50% or more sitting, 50% or more walking, and 50% or more standing.
  • Ability to safely sample and handle materials from large totes, pallets, and bulk containers.
  • Ability to work for extended periods in warehouse and production environments with moving forklifts, pallet jacks, and other industrial equipment.
  • The position requires frequent walking and standing throughout the shift, with occasional sitting as needed for documentation and administrative tasks.
  • The job is performed under varying temperature conditions in food manufacturing and warehouse environments.
  • Unrestricted visual and hearing abilities are required to safely work around warehouse traffic and manufacturing operations.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds is required.
Food Safety Requirements
  • Place high priority on food safety, quality, and sanitation by understanding and executing Thrive Freeze Dry’s food safety and sanitation policies and procedures.
  • Hold self and others accountable to Thrive Freeze Dry food safety and sanitation guidelines by communicating any food safety concern, incident, or opportunity for improvement to leadership or teammates.
  • In the absence of the Lead, serve as backup support to ensure all food safety, quality objectives, and SQF system requirements are met.
