Multi-Purpose Clerk - Deli - Oakdale Road, Modesto, CA

Responsibilities

• Operate the check stand and handle Center Store/Front End operations including stocking, rotating, and merchandising products; memorize PLU codes and stay up to date with new products; perform POS and inventory activities.
• Produce: receive, inspect, log products for shipment accuracy and quality; trim, wash, wrap produce; maintain freshness and department appeal; manage floral area; keep all areas and equipment clean.
• Meat/Seafood: receive, inspect, log products; weigh, wrap/package and label for display; stock, rotate, and merchandise; provide guest service at the seafood counter; take special orders; may operate equipment (slicers/wrappers); keep areas and equipment clean.
• Bakery/Deli: receive, inspect, log products; prepare, weigh, package, and label for display; stock, rotate, and merchandise; take special orders; may operate ovens, proofers, slicers, mixers; keep areas and equipment clean.
• Janitorial: maintain cleanliness and sanitation throughout the store; clean floors, restrooms, break rooms, shelving, cases, equipment, carts, and vending machines; may operate janitorial equipment.
• Valley Fresh: receive, inspect, log products; cut, trim, wash, juice, and package produce; stock and merchandise; keep all areas and equipment clean.
• Restaurant: operate the register; take guest orders and service completed orders; maintain cleanliness and sanitation throughout the restaurant and department.

All Department Assignment Duties

• Sweep and mop sales floor, front end, back rooms, and refrigerated areas.
• May operate forklift if authorized and certified.
• May operate baler if authorized.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Hiring pay range: $17.15 - $26.20

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Excellent guest service and communication (verbal and written) skills.
• Ability to work with a sense of urgency and self-motivation.
• Proactive, initiative, enthusiastic, and flexible on the job.

Education: High School Diploma (or G.E.D.) or additional job experience

Experience: Six months of grocery retail related experience.

Other: Must be available to work a variety of required retail hours; must be at least 18 years of age.

Physical: Requires standing and other physical movements on a frequent basis; requires lifting up to 40 lbs. without assistance.
